Welcome to North Metro Flex Academy! NMFA is a learning community which values high expectations for both academics and behavior. Our NMFA staff embraces students, families, and communities to build and develop well-rounded individuals who are independent critical thinkers and intrinsically motivated to be life-long learners. We believe that all children can learn as we seek to make a difference in the lives of our students.
The teachers and staff at North Metro Flex are committed to providing a quality education for all students in a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment. We are committed to ensuring that each child reaches his/her full potential.
Currently, NMFA has a student population of approximately 240 students in grades K-6. We are staffed with 20 certified members of the teaching staff and 13 classified/support staff. In addition to core academic subjects, students have the benefit of weekly art, music, and physical education classes. School hours are 8:55 AM – 3:55 PM Monday through Friday.
We encourage all parents/guardians to maintain regular communications with their child’s teachers and be actively involved in the school community. Checking the school calendar, website, and our Facebook page for events and activities will help keep you informed. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact the office by calling (612) 900-4435. We are looking forward to meeting your child and helping foster a love of learning.
Mission and Vision
North Metro Flex Academy’s vision is to create a high-performing and innovative school that will produce graduates capable of exemplary levels of higher order thinking and student achievement, as well as prepare students for any post-secondary opportunity they may wish to pursue. Our school will be a place where all students will have access to exceptional curriculum, tools, and teaching to maximize their success in life.
Based on this commitment, our mission is to prepare a diverse community of elementary, middle and high school students to be successful in college and in their careers through a flexible “blended learning” experience that develops analytical, compassionate, disciplined and self-directed learners.
A well-designed, thoughtful instructional model is imperative to achieve the school’s goals. The basis of our K-6 instructional model include 4 principles: 1) Academic Excellence, 2) Individualized Learning, 3) Safe Environment and Caring Staff, and 4) Accessible to All.
Academic ExcellenceWe care about every student and are committed to preparing children for lifelong success. NMFA implements a standards-based curriculum that has a solid research base and provides regular analysis of the achievement data to inform student grouping and monitor progress.
Individualized LearningAs part of the ACCEL Schools network, we strategically apply best practices to our curriculum design, teacher training, and integrated technology to drive continuous gains in academic performance. NMFA implements well-planned segmentation of the academic time for each subject so that individual needs are met, while also working on grade level content.
Safe and CaringWe care about the well-being and development of each child. We insist on a secure and orderly school. We address every aspect of security, from building codes and safety procedures to a state of the art camera system. We have a strong code of conduct and practice character education. North Metro Flex classrooms include physical space designs that support flexible groups and the use of technology.
Accessible to AllWe foster a culture that is reflective of community values and interests, and we are open to all students.
